Thanks mats. :D This is the first pleco i have ever bred.I'm hoping there are lots more than the 6 juveniles i have spotted up to now. They are very tricky to photograph as they hide as soon as i approach the tank, but i shall keep trying

Welcome to one of the challenges of fish photography! Actually, Ancistrus babies are quite brave and easy to photograph...

Ive got a group of 6 of these breeding in a tank on their own. I never see them out and about, unless I sneek down after everybody has gone to bed and use a torch covered with a dark sock  If I lob some food in they all come out and scrap and bicker over it. But shoot back into the caves if I move to quickly.

They are lovely fish, but my wife thinks I'm daft for keeping fish that we never see. I love to sit and watch them creeping out of the caves after dark and playing with each other.

Well done with the spawn.

Tom

Here's my L333 set up.

Thanks Tom. What i would like to know is.... what's the possibility of a second spawn? And has anyone spawned L199 and can give me a few pointers?

Cheers

Just care for L199 as you have done with your L333, L199 are easier to breed so keep up the good work. A second spawn with the same female take between 25-40 days after the first if nothing bothers them.

Ive got 3 females and 3 males. All the females seem to be constantly gravid. With one usually in a cave up to no good! They dont always spawn when gravid (1 male seems to take preferance over the others, and one seems not to want a lady, possibly the only gay in the tank  ).

The L333's of mine are much easier than my bristle nose cats, which say's somthing, as they are rampant.

Good luck

Tom

Lisa,
If this is your first suckermouth spawn, as you noted, realize that L333 fry grow exceptionally fast. By far the fastest Hyp. I've been lucky with...and although SOME PEOPLE (lol)
say the L199 is easier...I beg to differ!
The L333 fry are particularly attractive too, aren't they?

Congratulations!
