Need help for algea

Post by Laknarf »

I have a problem keeping a pleco in one of my tanks. It's a 10 gal that builds up algae fast. My LFS says to get a small pleco which I di. The plecos always do a great job and clear up the problem, then (I presume) because there is no more algae for a while, they die. The only fish I have in there is a cory and a few Black Tetras, so the fish are not killing it. What can I do? What can I use instead? I also tries Ottos but the same thing happened. HELP!

This probably should be moved to the Loricariidae section.

So, if it's correct that it's starving to death (which is certainly possible), then you could try to feed it... Here's an article that gives you some ideas of food - most algae-eaters are Herbivorous.

Obviously, there could be a huge number of other possibilities, but surely feeding it will not HURT it...

At the suggestion of MatsP I redid this post in the Loricariidae (sp) section. Sorry
