Spotted Raphael

Post by Reiner »

I just had an impulse buy yesterday and got 1 of those. After doing a little research I found out what it is. I also realized that he will never get anything to eat in my cichlid tank since they are all pigs so I would like to move him into my 80 gallon planted tank. The only thing that worries me is that he will eat all my Otocinclus. Are they predatory or are they fine with smaller fish around?
Thanks for any response

I don't think Agamyxis will eat Otos. Smaller characins, barbs etc may be eaten by accident, because these are resting at nights, while the Agamyxis is on the move.

Thanks for the response. I'll have to get him out of the hollow tree stump he has taken up already and move him into the 80 gallon tank.

That's going to be quite a challenge. Why don't you leave it in and transfer the piece of wood to the other tank?

I might do that and just push him out of the wood once he is in the other tank. The wood piece is to big for that tank and can't really stay there

Don't start pushing! Just wait till it's dark; feed something; the Agamyxis will leave the wood and then you can take it out. Open the tank lid some time before, otherwise the fish will hear that and crawl back into its hiding place
