Am I a Hypostomus punctatus?

Post by pat123123 »

I bought this fellow as a two inch baby in December at our local Wal-mart. He was sold as a common pleco, and labeled Hypostomus plecostomus. His coloring is all off. Someone here suggested he might be an H. punctatus. I just bought a new digital camera, so I am now able to post a photo.

I'd appreciate knowing for sure what he is. If anyone knows his L number, I'd appreciate that too, just out of interest.

He's about five inches now.

that\'s a hard one to call... the dorsal of yours appears more rounded. I think more images are needed ;)

here is a shot of the I recently had to trade in.

Thank you. I will try to get some more photos if he will come out to play when I'm here with my camera. I'm headed on vacation soon. If he doesn't come out to play tonight or tomorrow night, I'll post more pictures when I get home.

I have him housed with 2 adult and 4 juvenile platies and one dwarf guarami. They have a 55 all to themselves, so plenty of time for a while longer.

Thanks again.
