is it a Panaque?

Post by monkeon »

hi, i bought my forst cat fish at a LFS, it was labelled a Zebra Pl*co, but it really isnt :P
i love it anyway, but if it is a Panaque then maybe i should be wary that it may eat my tank seals!
sorry it's out of focus but it is the best i have so far, he is shy and i dont want to stress him out too much.

.

These fish need warm >28C well oxygenated water, and a meaty diet to be healthy. They don't eat algae.

It depends what else is in the tank.

If it's feeding OK and is behaving normally, there is no reason to turn it up.

I keep mine at 28.

It could be an L287 (more photos will help), but the care will be the same as L333.

thanks again. i've only got it yesterday, but i will keep an eye on it to see how it gets on. i have noticed that it likes to hide during the day but when i turn off the aquarium lights, and leave the room lights on, he cautiously explores and looks for food. I can also hear him munching when the lights are off! and to help ID it i will try to snap it again wil a better camera :P
