Hello, well i finally got some pics of my plec, albeit not good ones. If anyone has any ideas of what type it is based on these blurry pics a freind took id appreciate it.

Yes, and albino cory's are as Silurus says.

And then he identifies the pleco as a G. gibbiceps which is more than I could do from that photo... I don't think that's wrong, I just can't make out enough of the fish to say that it is...

yeah that was what i was asking what kind of pleco i had, since i didnt buy him, My wife bought him for me, I knew i had a cory , i have several species of them, I just wanted help identifing my pleco, and since the top pic was fuzzy i wanted to let everyone know that it was a pleco , and not a darker species of cory or some thing. But Some folks on a much nicer site helped me identify him. So yes i was quizzing you, and i guess that i found that some of the people on this site think they are smarter then others and can act like assholes because of it thanks for all the help i guess trying to become a member here was a mistake.

If you're upset with me, then that's not my intention, and I appologize. It was more a case of giving credit to Silurus being able to see what the fish is from those photos - you didn't take them, so not your fault they aren't exactly pin-sharp, right?

And if you're upset with Richie, he hasn't been on the forum here for very long (or at least, he's only posted three times), so I wouldn't count that to very much.

Yes well i have only been keeping fish since mid january of this year, and i want to take good care of them. I think that since i havent lost a single fish to natural causes yet that i must be doign something right, but i want to do it more then right. I love my pl*co and would like to know all i can about him. I assumed that a web site devoted to fish would be a little sensative that thier are many peopel out there who are just getting started in the hobby. So Far all the fish i bought have been what i wanted, But i have been trying to get my wife into the hobby so we can spend our little extra money we have on it. She unfortunetly Has bought what i believe to be a monster pleco, as well as a shark whom i plan to sell next month at a fish auction i am going to. for someone like me who only grossed 10 grand last year can spend 500 dollars in 2 months on fish then he must really care about thier well being. All i ask is that people treat an honest question with respect, and not as an excuse to prove superior fish knowledge.

I think we got the wires crossed somewhere, but I too would like to give the best care to my fish, and if I can help someone else give the best care to their fish, then that's a good thing too.

And yes, the is definitely a large-growing fish that will "bust it's tank" - something that we don't really mean literaly, but rather in the sense that it will by far outgrow most ordinary tanks - ultimately, you'd be looking at a tank somewhere in the order of 200g or more - which is neither easy on the wallet or placement.

Unfortunately, I can't change that. You have the choice of growing the fish until it's too large for your current tank(s) - and if you get a bigger tank sometime in the future, it'll get you some more time with this fish, or take it to a shop right now, where it most likely will be sold to someone else who doesn't have the facilities to take care of it...

unfortunetly taking him back to the pet store is not an option

. My local fish stores are a walmart and another small chain pet store who dont take fish back, guess theyd rather you killed them liek they seem to do in thier tanks. I was in walmart the other day and saw tanks full of dead fish. I mean every tank had dead fish in it. So i wont be getting anything from there again. I could try to sell him at the fish auction but liek you said few peopel can readily care for a fish this big. Maybe ill just design a custom tank and build it. I might not know that much about fish but i can sure build a tank. Just have to find the right size glass and build some thing thats at least 2 feet wide by several feet long. I mean it doesnt have to be that deep, and i certainly dont need some fancy hood .

Wow your from the netherlands? Thats cool i have been on a norse kick lately reading up on the legends and traditions. Unfortunetly most of the sagas are too long to print up and reading too much on the puter hurts my eyes. I have a great interest in history as well as fish. I am a stay at home dad right now so i have lots of free time to fill, not to mention our winters are brutal here in the north country.

I've taken fish back to Walmart. They never even asked any questions. There is a (2 week?) time limit I think.

Yeah well ive missed that 2 week window on the shark wife boguht him over a month ago. But its ok im sure i can find someone to take him in. I just wanna make sure its someone who will care for it also I have freinds who have to restock 50 gallon tanks every few months. I gave one an algea eater who was bugging my tetras and found he was keeping him in a brandy glass on the counter so i took him back and since he occupies a 5 gallon in my bedroom.
