Number of soft rays in Corydoras...

According to their description, C. aeneus has 7 soft dorsal rays, and C. paleatus has 8 soft dorsal rays (there are another differences, as 2 anal spines in aeneus...)

Well, today I have found what a I thought was an albino paleatus, but it has 10 soft rays in dorsal fin...

what it is?

another bizarre: this has the coloration of an aeneus... but has 8 soft rays ( 1-8 )...

an hybrid?

The last ray is branched at the base, giving the appearance that it is two, sometimes three, rays. I count only 8 rays in the albino and 7 in the normal fish.

you mean rays 8-9-10 are the same, branched...

how do you distinguish a ray branched in three from three individual rays placed together?

If you look carefully at rays 8â??10, you will see that they are joined together at the base.
