Erm Zack are you sure you have a L77/137?

The former species Cochliodon (now Hypostomus) cochliodon is an absolute woodeater! I have 3 "Cochliodon" here and they absolutely go nuts on the wood producing tons of sawdust. Also they will eat all plants the can get their "fingers" on.
cheers

Im absolutely sure thats what he is, just double checked with the cat-e-log to. I have noitced a aweful lots of this "sawdust poo" but unless he only eats the wood at night iv never seen him do it. Im pretty sure if he was eating it i would know because he isnt at all notcturnal and comes out all the time in the day. He is always attached to the wood but never rasping on it like my clown plec. I guess he must just do it when all the lights are off. By the way how big (inches) will he get?? Hes about six right now and has been growing slowly.

Thanks for all the replies, I guess i will add some driftwood. Are rusty plecos usually out during the day? Or are they more shy/nocturnal

I think theyre more inactive than they are shy, mine seems to come out when he wants wether its day or night.
