Catfish recommendation

Post by SinaiTSi »

I already posted this once in another category but it might have been the wrong place since I got no response.

I currently have 2 tanks right now. A 55 gal. and a 30 gal.
In the 55, I have an Oscar, about 10" right now. The 30 gal. has some Tinfoil barbs, they are about 3-4" right now. I'd really like to get some catfish in both of them. I just need some suggestions. I'm not really interested in any corys or pl*cos either. A few i've considered, Jaguar cat, Pictus cat, and the Sun cat. Just to give you an idea of what I'm looking for. Any suggestions are welcome.

Watch out for the jaguar cat! They get huge claws and sharp teeth!

Haha. Wow, I have to say, I've never seen anybody make a totally random joke that gave no information at all. That was pretty funny though.

Pictus cats would be the ones I'd recommend for a tank up to 55g - make sure you get more than three. Of course, I would also recommend a much larger tank for Oscars, never mind that Tinfoil Barbs grow to a good foot (13") if you don't stunt them by keeping them in a small tank... 13" fish needs a tank that is about 4 x 2 x 2 feet - that's a 125g tank.

The 55 I have the Oscar in right now is plent big enough just for him, in the future I'd like to have him in a larger tank and of course the tinfoil barbs will have to get a larger tank also. I was just curious on good tankmates for the fish, so I can plan on what tank size I need to upgrade to. I figured post here hoping that I wouldn't get criticized for my non-catfish related species that are in the tanks they are right now.
