Short wiskers

Post by mitch »

I have just noticed that one of my cichlids has bitten the whiskers of my vulture cat. I will be taking the cichlid out of the tank ASAP.

I need to know if the whiskers will heal and grow back, he is swimming a bit funny at the moment. Should I put anything in the tank to help destress him?

If you maintain your water conditions, the barbels should heal.

It's unusual that a Cichlid would target just the barbels, was there significant fin damage also?

Yes, I think the barbels will grow back. Even fins will grow back nicely on most cafish, given good clean water and nothing eating them again...
