Breeding Corydoras Sterbai and Top 5

Post by fishpedagogue »

I have kept different corydoras and am now trying to breed them. I have tried to get Corydoras gossei to spawn with no success. I have two questions.

1. How easy is corydoras sterbai to spawn?
2. What are the top 5 easiest corydoras to breed?

Thanks in advance.

I've had some trouble getting stable action in the C. sterbai tank. It seems that they spawn a couple of times around february and then no action for a year or so.

Regarding the top 5:

1: C. paleatus.
2: C. aeneus.
3: C. davidsandsi.
4: C. panda.
5: C. duplicareus.

...I don't keep the first two species, but I have done in the past. The last three species I keep at the moment and they are also easy in my opinion. I've rated them by their spawning frequency.
Best regards,

The easiest of all Corys to breed must surely be C. pygmaeus, I have even seen them spawning in a bag at a CSG auction.

My top 5 would be
C. pygmaeus
C. habrosus
C. aeneus and albino form
C. panda
C. sterbai

With regard to C. gossei, I have found they need to be warm, mine would not breed in water below 80º F (26.5º C).

Hi,
If you look at the other post I did today, I've listed all I have done and my Cory Sterbais are pretty much spawning every other day.
