Suggestions requested for the ID of this Vandellia

Post by Brooklamprey »

I'm guessing V. plazaii from early examination however I'm not so sure and not confident of that ID 100%.

I do know these fish were collected in Peru.

Anyone with some thoughts, leads or useful genus references I'd be interested.

Not that I'm in disagreement but do you have a reference that states this?

I'm very well aware that these fish are a taxonomic mess. I heard it both that the species is valid and not valid as V. plazaii. I'd like some further clarification on both sides of the issue.
