BAIANINHO is a trade name, I believe it is the name of the area from where
Corydoras 'BAIANINHO' I is found. It was eventually namd by Hieronimus in1995 as
C. lacerdai in hounor of Marco Lacerda the collector.
Now more confusion! Another similar species was found in the same area and was given the name C. 'BAIANINHO' II This psecies has yet to be scientifically described.
It now looks like we have another very similar species, although I beleive this one to be the largest of the three, similar in size to
C. barbatus. The males have exceptionally long pectoral fins just like
C. macropterus. I have pictures but as yet not the permision to publish them. As soon as I get the OK they will be uploaded to my page. I am hoping the obtaine some of these but I fear the price will be very high.
I suppose this one should be called C. 'BAIANINHO' III
