those fish beside the gibby are geophagus leucosticta that i got when they were barely free swimming, about a month ago. there are 20, now in a 65 tall. this plec seems to be a good fish to keep with young fry.

Most pleco's will never harm other fish. Two exceptions are:
1. When the fish is so desperate for protein that it starts chasing other fish - easily avoided by feeding the fish properly.
2. When the other fish is another pleco and they are fighting over a good place in the tank to hide/mate.

So, yes, they are good to keep with small fish - they also eat leftover food and such, making it more digested by the time it's disposed by the pleco, and thus the pollution is somewhat less. Of course, on the other hand, you have to feed the pleco too, causing more muck... No such thing as a free lunch.
