how do you tell the difference between the two? right now its about full grown.

that´s not all right.
There are adult A. dolichopterus with white edges at the dorsal fin, but also specimen partly loosing the white edge and specimen loosing the white edge at all.
This difference is even obvious in specimen coming from the same clutch.
For an exact declaration you should know the origin of the fish.
