Otothyris lophophanes?

Post by 4zap »

Hai

i've a problem to specifiy this fish:
Image

It`s not an specified Otocinclus and i'm not shure if this could be a Otothyris lophophanes. Can anyone tell who to classified this fish?

This fish is over 4 years old, the white pigmentation on the front will be more brightly when he gets older.
I don't know the place where they catch this fish.

Thanks for any hint.
greetings from berlin

Otothyris species have pronounced crests on the dorsolateral surfaces of the head, which your fish lacks.

I am thinking your fish is not Otothyris.

I suspect Otocinclus (an oddly-colored individual).

uhhhh hard to believe. I think it's an undescriped species. Otocinclus? I don't think so. Maybe, that it's a kind of "mood of nature". Who know's? :D

Rainer,
Is this a unique specimen or where there a group that all came in with this same coloration? It is certainly not a fish I have seen before, but I can (with your permission) forward your picture to some scientists working on these fishes.

Hai Shane

i don't know if the whole group shows this pattern. I've only seen this single one on the pic.
If you like to forward it, do it. Maybe we will get an answer.
