Could any of the recently added unidientifed Glyptothorax (, and ) be described in this paper? Perhaps G. sp(3) = G. panda?

The Indochina Glyptothorax picture is getting a lot clearer, thanks HH. Could've sworn it was a mess just half a yr ago.

All peninsular Thai-Malay "G. major" turning out to be G. fuscus then? (They're more light-grey and blotchy than the red-browns of SE TH (ie.Chantaburi).)

Yes, this is a variable species (FWIW, I have caught red-brown G. fuscus in Johor).

I also believe that the first two specimens in here are not G. fuscus, but G. lampris.

I presume this material is from Surat Thani or somewhere in the Isthmus of Kra? Glyptothorax lampris reaches its southernmost limit there.

They're all from Chantaburi, HH. I was trying to depict the variation of patterning, and to that effect may have inadvertantly implied some sort of norm for the locality.

Anyways, longterm captive SE TH G. fuscus will revert to the typical tri-saddle/marking common to lampris. Only superficial difference is the steeper dorsal profile found in fuscus as opposed to G.lampris. Below are 2-3 month Chantaburi captives, (pic taken just NOW).

[BTW, no commercial fishery of lampris, but of fuscus in TH.]

And not to take away from your original post of the new Glyptothorax.

Glyptothorax panda, a dwarf (~ 3 cm) species.

Is this not then a synonym of G. dorsalis.

No, G. siamensis is a striped species that looks like G. trilineatus.

OK, but fishbase has it as a synonym as mentioned. Is that out of date or just plain wrong?

HH,

Any chance you could do a light data-sub for the G. panda? Just info garnered from the paper like type locality, size and so forth?

Cheers,

Jools
