What is my rescue cory?
I took in this cory, he was found in a siplock baggy in the cat food section of the petshop I work at. Its about 3 inches long...
I have some julli's, will it be alright with them? He's in my QT tank for now...
I also have recieved my first pleco. A 5 inch common plec someone didnt want anymore, and was dumped also. I have him in my common goldfish tank for now, with a peice of drift wood, but what would be a proper set up for him? and whats good food? I have some hikari algea wafers, but I know that cant be all... judging on how much he is enjoying the goldies shrimp pellet snacks! (BTW, the tank is a 40 gallon with 3 small commons, 2 4" and one 1", who are gunna get a 60 or 75 when I have more room. tanks been running since may)
thanks for any help!

Can't help with the Cory, and I'm not sure my answer to the Common pleco situation will be much appreciated either.
The common pleco will, cared for correctly, grow to AT LEAST 10", and quite possibly up to about 15-20". This means that it requires a really large tank. As a general rule, it's said that you need a tank that is (at least) 4-5L x 2L x 2L, where L is the lenght of the fish. That means, for a ten-inch fish: 40-50" x 20" x 20", at 15" length you get a tank-size of 60-80" x 30" x 30", which is probably larger than you'd most people can cope with, both when it comes to cost and the flooring that you need to keep it from falling down the cellar...
Common pleco's are very nice fish, but they grow large, which is a big problem for many owners...
As to feeding, check out the article I've written. You can find it under "Shane's World" at the menu-bar on the top of this page.

Wow! that looks like him! (of couse, most of them look like him to me... lol)
on the pleco... Ya... at my work we have them labled as 18-20 inch fish... I just couldnt stand the thought of a poor fish getting flushed because someone didnt like him anymore and was to stubborn to use our "Needs a home" board. :/
thanks for not yelling at me. So mr. Pleco wont eat my goldies, will he?

Pleco's in general will be more happy to eat stuff that don't try to swim away from them, as they aren't the most skilled swimmers. That is, as long as they are being fed something that does contain protein now and again, otherwise they have been known to suck the slime off other fish, particularly if they are slower swimming species. But feed it a couple of algae wafers a week and it should be fine.magickzzl wrote:Wow! that looks like him! (of couse, most of them look like him to me... lol)
