Mystery Corydoras

Post by Jim Richardson »

Hi All,

I found this little guy at my LFS all alone, he is the one with the orange strip. They did not know what he was as he was mixed into a bag of other catfish. Have been unable to identify him in any of my books or online. Any help with an ID will be greatly appreciated. Thanksâ?¦

Hi!

According to Ian and Hans-georg, these Corydoras are more colsely related to Corydoras melanotaenia than to Corydoras aeneus...

Cheers

Are these catfish rare? This was my first time ever to see one.

Thanks...

Not particularly so. They are showing up more frequently in recent years.

Saw an auction on aquabid for some (in a mix of fish, with a weird title) this week.

I was worried that they were like the painted glassfish or fruit tetras!
