Post by bussardnr »

my lfs has whats labeled as tiger plecos. they look like Tiger ''Peckoltia''(Panaque sp. (L002)) but all the pictures here have straight lines on the head. a few of these had spots(or circles) on thier head. anyone have an idea what it is?

Hi!

a bunch of small Panaque are labelled as Tiger... basically every river system has its own dwarf Panaque species...

Have a look in the Cat-elog to see if any fit the description... maybe ask the LFS about the origin of the import to shortened the number ...

Cheers

I think most of the tiger pleco falls into the Panaque catagory. Check out this link to see if you have anything that looks like them :

There can be quite a bit variation within populations in the patterns of the head. It is also not unusual for stripes to turn into spots as the fish grows older.
