I was in Iquitos in 2000 and saw this fish, very small! One of our party argued with me that it was just the fry of a Panaque. I remained silent. Anyway, it's in the catelog...

I can see general facial charactoristics between the two Oto sp 2 has the same coloration scales have boarderline, even the facial coloration is similar, however if the picture is true then it looks like the Nannoptopoma has an elongated nose. What tools am I looking for when identifying this genus?
Yan, they are selling around 25-30 usd a pop... from Lima Peru good luck with that.

Hi again!
Jools, I really don't think that Nannoptopoma sternoptychum labbelled as Otocinclus sp(2) is the same species that Waldo is showing there...
the thread is was refering back is this one
Waldo: the friend of mine has already order someone, they should arrive something like next week!!
Cheers

Jools, the one in the catalog is a different fish from the one I posted in the thread highlighted by Yann. Both Nannoptopoma sp. can be found in the same thread.
The one Waldo posted has stripes on the head which runs parallel to the body. The one you posted as Otocinclus. 2 is clear of markings, but is of an intense "rust-brown" colouration. The body markings also differ.
Just my two cents' worth.
Alan
