C. weitzmani Spawning
Greetings All. For those of you that are interested, I had a small spawning of C. weitzmani, during the night. All of the eggs (about 12) were placed within some floating plants. The one female is huge and I'm hoping that I caught them early in the process and that there are many more eggs to come. I split the eggs into 2 containers that contain some healthy, fast growing wigglers of other Cory species, so hopefully at least one group will hatch. Keep your fingers crossed for me. I'll keep you posted in about 5 days. - Frank/Guppyman

Yes, six actually.thebicyclecafe wrote:Nice work. Did you have them in a group of 5-6?
That seems to be the preferred ratio.I'm working with mine, I have them in a 10 gallon, 2 males, one female, the best of my group. What do you think?
Well, a slight, slow drop in temp, as the nights get cooler here, in the mid-Atlantic states.Did cold water trigger the spawn?
Thanks. Eggs looking good after about 60 hours. - FrankGood luck with the fry.

C. weitzmani Spawning Failure
Hi. Yes, as Mats said. Sad to report that there were no fry from this first spawning attemp. I'll take the blame. Will do things a bit differently the next time around. The females, since receiving them, have grown very large. The group all look happy and healthy. Good coloration, very active and they eat like pigs. Anything at any time - quickly disappears.stepchild wrote:Good luck Frank. Are these the ones that look some what like a clown loach?

The disappointment is large, but whadareyagonnado? I'll get 'em, next time. Be well, all. - Frank

Care to expand on the "I'll take the blame" and "do things different". Just in case we find ourselves in the same situation [I doubt I'll get Weitzmani's in the near foreseeable future, but my guess is that it's a generic mistake that would apply to any cory], if you see what I mean...
Certainly, there's only two ways to learn these things:
- Listen to people who've done it before, and know how, or at least how NOT to do it.
- Try it yourself, and remember how it went wrong the first time.
Sincerest good wishes for the next time.

Weitzmani Wiggler
Hi,
I have one wiggler. Took 8 days to hatch. A few more eggs look good - so maybe . . . . . . .
Frank
EDIT - 4 wigglers after 9 days. - Frank

Hi. At the request of Jools I will soon be providing a spawning log/data sheet of my experiences with this species. Stay tuned. - Frankmarktman wrote:Post a quick "this is how I did it", if you don't mind. Water parameters, plants, tank size, that kind of thing. I am planning on getting some of these for Chrismas.
