size of tank for breeding multipunctatus

Post by rfb »

I just read the article for catfish of the month about the way to breed these beauties.Wow is that cool and so smart.I may be blind unlikely but I did not see the size of tank to do that in,I have four of them and wonder if I should put all in the tank, with this breeder. The other quetions are is there a substrate and is this done alone as I thought that is what the person said I guess what i ask with that is in a tank solo, any plants or furniture.I cant wait to try this as it seems so cool.thanks for the help on this.

Any tank of 30 gals or bigger should work.

Add lots of caves, and optionally, plants like Vallisneria.

I've got my group of 8 in a 90 gallon tank with a colony of nubilus as hosts...Bare bottom tank with a HOB filter, a hydrosponge filter, and an airstone...No decorations in the tank, because I'd just have to remove them to catch the female nubilus...David

Bare bottom or a little sand is good. I would use a few pieces of slate(depending on the cichlid you use). Keep slate low lying so Synos have a place to hide and cichlids have a piece to lay on.
