Corydoras cf. sanchesi?

Can anyone help med with this...I bought these as Corydoras cf. sanchesi. They probably are, but I would like a second opinion.

In the new identification book by Ian and Hans-Georg, there's a picture of a fish called C-14, wich is referred to under Corydoras sanchesi. C-14 looks like my fish, only my fish has more spots and some has a longitudal band, wich C-14 can also have.

I'm almost certain that my fish is C-14, but I don't have any information on where they are caught (they are wild caught fish).

Hmm...according to Ian's webpage, C-14 is also named Corydoras sp. cf boehlkei, so now I'm a bit confused...

hey i think my lfs had a large stock of those in yesterday he had them down as "backstripe corydora" hope this helps

I think they are C129 a species from the border region between Guyana and Brazil. I picked up the last 6 from BAS at Bolton,

Now I've searched around a bit, and there seems to be only one picture available of this species (C-129). Ian, do you have a picture of your fish?

I think they could be either C-14 or C-129 as my fish looks like/don't looks like both species in the pics I've seen.

jon123, it's probably Corydoras bondi you've seen, I can see the resemblence, but I don't think my fish are C. bondi, as not all of them have the black stripe...unless I have two species in the tank

Your fish has caudal fin markings and C14 does not, also C14 has a shorter head.

I shall post some more pictures on the C129 page in the next day or so.

Thank you Ian, you're really being a great help! Looking forward to see the pics. Had a look in the ID book last night on the C-129 pic, and I can see the resemblence. The pic in the book is clearer than the ones on WWW.

...looks excactly like mine...does some of your fish also lack the longitudal band on the sides?

They produced 2 eggs saturday afternoon. Hadn't noticed any breedng activity at all, but suddently there were 2 eggs in the java moss...temp. 22 degrees celcius, 50% waterchange once a week with rainwater and a power filter to make strong corrent, in case anyone is interested in the details...

Any luck with yours Ian? ...strange they only laid 2 eggs...they were rather larger, 2 mm. or so.

C129 is quite variable with some specimens showing a mid lateral line and others not. I have not bred my group yet but am conditioning them up ready.

Unfortunately my eggs fungused...hmm. Well, if thay laid eggs once, they can do it again
