Chubby Pleco
Chubby Pleco
Hello,
I was just looking for some info on the Chubby pleco. I've searched the forums and looked at the other info, but I just need to make sure i get this right.
First off, it's a veggie eater, correct? Do they need any protein at all?
Also, I understand they like good oxygenated water and strong currents, a powerhead in an 80 gallon tank should suffice I hope?
Are they at all agressive towards other plecos? I'm wondering about the sailfins specifically, there might be one with a chubby for a bit if I have to, otherwise I'll set up a new tank.
Finally, what is their natural environment like? I want to make this as accurate as possible, is the substrate sandy, fine, rocky, etc? Any driftwod or anything else I need to be aware of?
Love this site, keep it up! And thanks for any responses!

I'd love to see responses to this, too. I have had my chubby pl*co for a few months now, and I've not seen him feed, except for once, where the lights in an adjacent room (and no others) were on, and I'd just squirted bloodworms in. I rarely see him, really. I'm afraid he's not eating enough and want to make sure he's happy. I've not been able to find much really useful info, so anything will be most appreciated.
I will say that, for a time, he staked out a spot under some driftwood and defended his cave from interloping cories. Nothing to cause them injury, but they knew to get out quick!
