Did you know fantastic help is an anagram of Planet Catfish? This forum is for those of you with pictures of your catfish who are looking for help identifying them. There are many here to help and a firm ID is the first step towards keeping your catfish in the best conditions.
The only thing deterring me from say the L236 is the fact that in the pictures in the Cat-elog don't show an anal fin, whereas it's very clear to see on your first two pictures. But I guess the L236 must have one? (help?)
The third picture of yours is really good (not so much for ID, though)- glad to see the fish has settled, and cool to see the white markings looking so bright.
Hi Jerms,
I think you may have a little GEM there , the last box of 236 that cane into my friend's shop had only one just like your's. More black with not many thin white line's.
Jon - by fake zebra do you mean L-316 Rio Jari zebra?
Kev
Put me dinner in the oven, im off to the Xingu!!!.

I'm personally 100% sure that this is not Hypancistrus Zebra. H. Zebra do not have that curved pattern in their lines, and are more white than black, whilst this fish surely has a black base with white lines.
Amazing! If one had told me it were different fish (pic 1/2 opposed to pic 3) I would have believed it.
I understand that you want to determine it, but it may just as well not even have an L-number.
Anyway, a great plec!
Ramblin man: don't worry, the L236 does have an analfin.
Thanks everyone.....the LFS store told me it was a new zebra from Columbia! I asked what river and he didnt know....But I have to take more pics...I have him with a "L236" a real Zebra Pleco(L46) and man its looks really nice!!! Its black and white like my zebra pleco!!! My supposely L236 looks really dull compared to him....I will take a couple of pics later today to post.
