Something Funny going On!

My Melini catfish hide all day long but something must have been in the bloodworms because all of a sudden, two out of the three of them were swimming all over the place. After watching them for awhile, I notice Ike was nibbling at Spike and they were both shaking while they were going up and down the glass. After awhile, I noticed 4 little eggs in the corner of the tank.

This is a ten gallon tank with one gold dust molly, a dwarf platy, serpae tetra and 3 cory cats. I have two live plants. Now, what do I do with the eggs?

You can collect the eggs with a single edge razor blade and hatch them out in a small container if you have one. Use an air stone and the water from the 10 gallon tank. If you do not have any other tank or container you can either float a small container or use a net breeder to hatch the eggs in the ten. The eggs if fertile will hatch in 3-4 days. Do not feed the fry until the yolk sacks dissolve which will be another 3-4 days. Check the sticky on breeding corys. Good luck.

Unfortunately the eggs were eaten. I couldn't take them off with a razer blade because they were on the silacone and didn't want to risk damaging that.

dont worry about the egg's now they've done it once they will most probebly do it again soon.

They are back to hiding so I can't get any pictures. I will try the breeders net next time. Hopefully they will lay the eggs away from the silacone so I can move them to safety.

You can easily roll them off the tank glass with your index finger as Corydoras eggs have an adhesive coating which allows them to stick themselves onto the tank glass or silicone sealant in the first place.

shhhhh, they are at it again. I just wish Spike would put the eggs any other place than the silacone.

OK, I moved 3 of the eggs over (I can't find the 4th one). It was actually quite easy.

If after 24 hours the eggs do not change color, does that mean they weren't fertilized? I have them in a breeders net in the tank. At what point do I need to move them over to their own tank?
