redtail /tigershovelnose mix

Post by madf1man »

I think I posted this in the wrong section so I am doing it agin here.Plese feel free to delete the other if needed. Hello folks, new to this site.Glad to have found it. I have been a avid fan of the big cats for some 20 years.Have been in the buisness of importing and selling a long time ago and a keeper of a few big ones.At any rate my tanks have been empty for a while until today.I was at a friends shop and he had a most unusual cat labeled as a mixed cat of redtail and tiger shovelnose.I can plainly see the markings of both the redtail and shovelnose in it.The nose is elongated, the body has the typical gray upper and white lower with tiger markings as spots instead of stripes and the faint redtail.I have not been able to find any info on this.Any info would be appreciated.Pictures are possible if needed to assit in this. Thanks Trey

madf1man,
They are shunned in the hobby, but probably should not be. They are bred as food fish (and taste great) so at least by buying one of these you are not impacting on wild populations.
