ich meds safe with multis

Post by greenmonkey51 »

I have a couple cichlids in my 125g that have ich. So I have to treat the entire tank now. But I have 2 Syno. Multis. What is a good ich med thats safe for them.

Truthfully I've never had a c*****d with ICK, but have had Multis with it in the same tank. Use higher temps and salt(aquarium). Thats what I did and it was very successful. I'm not possitive that salt or high temp kills the ICK,but the temp speeds the process(cycle), and the salt helps the fish(sick) with the slime coat and overall defense and health. Over my 3 years of keeping fish, I have seen ICK enough to be realistic with it. Some fish get it while others dont. Why? Stress most likely. And helping them be less stressfull means they can fight the ICK themselves. Be sure to no light it/minimal light for a couple of days. BTW ICK cannot sustain a "dormant" stage for over a couple days(unless in cold water=non tropical), so it must have been introduced to the tank. Always quarentine new fish and plants. And 1 week is not enough, believe me as I aquired an Angelicus with ICK, was clean when I picked it up,QTed for a week, and still infested my main tank. Goes to show some "spots" cannot be seen(probably in the gills). Good luck and I'm sure your catfish will pull through.

In addition, I'd like to add that doing more frequent water changes will help. Cleaner water means less stress-factors for the fish, which in turn means that the fish will help themselves heal better.
