the All Catfish Species Inventory, whose goal is to describe nearly all of the world's undiscovered species of catfish within the next 5 years.
Sounds like good marketing to me. Don't know about the practical feasibility. :) My impression of ichthyologists (the present company excepted) is that they work on an almost geological timeline. I've been checking the Tree of Life to see the completed revision of Aspredinidae for at least five years already. :(

The stated aim has always been about getting the funding from NSF. Heck, give us 50 years, and we still would'nt be able to describe every single catfish species.
And most ichthyologists are procrastinators. I have projects started in the mid-1990s that I have yet to finish. It's sometimes difficult to getthings done when you're juggling 30 or so different projects at once.
