Cory cat info

Post by mld90 »

I will soon be looking to expand my corydoras collection. I would like to get a few less common types like: Adolfoi, Haraldschultzi, Guapore, or Sterbai. If I do run across some what should I expect to pay? What type of the four would you like to have? Just for fun. :D

All four of your choices are nice fish. I have bred all but the haraldschultzi which are the largest of the four species and the most diffcult to breed. As far as cost, probably $10-15 each.

I've not had any luck getting a good stock of interesting cories from the LFS's I've visited. Does your LFS have access to a nice stock of corys / catfish? If so, just curious, what area of WV do you reside?
I was looking for some Corydoras adolfoi, but settled on a group of Corydoras panda instead.

I live around the Summersville area. I like to visit Jo Mars pet shop in Nitro WV. They have to order the less common types of cories. They do have a few different species of Pleco. I was in there last week and picked up a nice 4" L200. Im planing on finding a good place online and ordering the cories I would like. I also was told there is a nice pet shop in Greensboro NC, Im leaving today for NC so we will see. I did just buy some cories from a guy in Ohio, he had them as an undescribed cory but I think they are Undulatus. If I find an place to order some would you like some Adolfoi?

I've been to JoMars. The owner is really nice.
I used to live in Huntington and moved to Beckley a few months ago.
Brian at Pets-N-Things (in Huntington) used to order plecos and other cats for me.
No Adolfoi for now...thanks anyhoo.
I still need to move my 75g here. I keep trying to get time, but I work nights and plans keep falling through.
I had a L-200 named Toxi. They are beautiful fish. How much did he sell them for?

$25.00 for the L200. I went to NC and visited several pet shops some had Sterbai but no Adolfoi. Oh well I need to take a step back too. I hate all of the shops around beckley. Jo Mars has really went up hill the last six months if you havent been in a while you should check it out. He hired a new guy named Ron who really knows his stuff, mostley reef stuff. They have a club named the Chemical Valley Reef Club, channel 13 CBS charleston did a little report on it. If the guy dont know what he's talking about he sure makes you think he does.

That's a great price for L-200, especially around here.
I'll have to make a trip and take a gander...it has been a while.
Yeah, the stores here aren't exactly "up to par," just your run of the mill top sellers - various tetras, goldfish, and livebearers. If they do get anything in of interest it's usually very small or grossly over-priced.
