Hi,
I am having a tough time tryring to keep my Ancistris Catfish alive.
It seems like after a few days they always start to die off.
I recently acquired 24 Albino Ancistris (five have since died) which I put in a 50 gallon tank by themselves.
The tank is bare bottomed and had brown alage on the sides when I put the cats in it.
They have since cleaned the tank so there is no alage visable.
I have been feeding them Breeders Award Vegetable Bits and Spirulina Disks.
There are three cycled sponge filters in the tank and a Penguin Biowheel 170.
I clean the bottom of the tank daily.
The water parameters are: Ph 8.1, KH 80 mg/L, Ammonia 0, Nitrite 0, Nitrate 5 mg/L
I realize the PH is quite high but the person I bought them from has a Ph equally as high.
Any Help would be very appreciated.
