Can you help me with this?

Well I'm a bit confused right now, because according of what you can read in my first post, I asked IF I can keep the zebra's in my tank. Everybody said it's small but its possible and if you provide then with the ideal conditions they should be allright, and now you are saying that it is not possible? and I already told you, I want to buy them small because when they get bigger I can put them in a bigger tank, to be honest I think 7 centimetres of fish in my tank is a bit too much, especially when there are three fishes of that size that also have a territory ;)that's the reason. And if I end put with more males than females, I'm pretty sure I will find a solution, and when the time maybe comes that the zebra's get older and the males get conflicts, I just put them in a bigger tank with more females ;)or when that is not possible, I'll seperate them untill I find a replacement. I hope you agree with my plans. And btw, I think I'll begin with 2 zebra's first, and I may buy a third one later. In that way I'm sure they have their space. And if 2 zebra's in the shop can get along well, I hope they can get along too in my tank .

Although Bronzefry did reply to this in a "sensible" way, I guess I should explain:

1. Yes, you CAN keep 2-3 H. Zebra in a 70L tank, but it's probably only possible if you haven't got much else in the tank. Ideally, you want to have a slightly bigger tank...

2. The size of tank in the shop isn't really a good indication on how big a tank you should have at home. I visited one shop not so long ago that has a filter system that consists of 2 meter high columns, three of them. That is completely different from a "home" filter, whether it's an internal or external filter. Shops have a different setup than you do at home, because they run (usually) multiple tanks with the same water. They also don't necessarily give the fish the space they "need", as long as they don't kill each other in aggression, they will keep as many as the tank will hold. That's not the same as what you want to do at home, just like when you go to work/school in the morning, you cram into a packed full train or a bus, you don't necessarily want that at your house...

1:I think I will only keep 2 zebra's in my tank, along with 6 otocinclus affinis and 10 neontetra's, and nothing else on the bottom of the tank. Also, when I buy the zebra's, they are about 3/4cm. I have an idea of making holes everywhere in the interior of the tank, if it works out I will post some pics ;) so they have all the space they can wish for.

2: I think you get me wrong on this one, I was not talking about the size of the tank or anything like that, but about 2 zebra's who can get along well in a tank (so not the wrong combination like 2 males 1 female that you mentioned), when the tank is not extremely small ofcourse ;) .

bear in mind that zebras like really warm water (27-30) and species like cories (there are a few exceptions) and otos prefer much cooler water (22-24) i wouldn't keep them together.

i think the 3 zebras will be fine in your tank, PROVIDED you get a big external power filter like an ehiem 2213 or preferably larger.

you could have problems if you use a small internal filter.

lots of rocks will also be needed.

as for other tankmates, don't go too mad, as it is a small tank, and it's better to understock, so you don't end up with an expensive mess.

3 zebras and about 10 small tetras will be ok.

i do agree with sid though, in that i would rather spend the money on equipment and cheaper fish.

i would think very hard about buying zebras, that's an awful lot of money to spend on a some very small fish that could die if you haven't got the experience to get it just right.
