Can u get banjo cats, Panaques etc. Also i know of one place i can get gold nuggets in for about $500 , but im not paying that ridiculous price.... any info would be greatly appreciated

$500 is cheap for Gold nuggets here
Expect to pay well over $500 for Panaques are over $1000 for Zebra's or anything exotic

What?! you can get those 'rare' plecs in Aus. The only things that i can get are one type of ancistrus, farlowella acus, otocinclus affinis, royal wiptails, common plecostomus and sailfin plecostomus. My Boss (i work at the LFS)once 'legaly' got a albino ancistrus ($350) and some type of whiptail ($50). :-X Maybee I should not have writen that last bit.

You can get anything if you have the $ and the contacts.

But, we can get heaps of other cats, yet not many sucker-mouthed cats.

Depends on what you want ... prices start around $500 for the more interesting L numbers and go up to well over $1000 for the rarer ones. Adult fish like large Panaques can sell for $2000 or more.
The where isn't too hard to find if you ask around some forums. Remember most likely they will not be in FNQ and you will have to ship them in.

They are not allowing any new catfish in unfortunatly.

Put it this way .... if I was in that shop I'd buy all 30 of them immediatly and have them resold within a hour at triple the price.

According to the Attorney Generals Dept http://www.frli.gov.au/comlaw/legislati ... 25&START=1

They will be allowing new species to be added to the Schedule 6 of allowable fish imports which says that:

Allows amendment to the List of specimens suitable for live import. This instrument will allow live specimens of: Botia lohachata (Reticulate loach, yo-yo loach) of length 1.5 cm and over; Cyphotilapia frontosa (Frontosa, Humphead cichlid) of length 12 cm and over; Dekeyseria pulcher (Clown peckoltia) of length 1.5 cm and over; Glossolepis incisus (Red rainbowfish) of length 1.5 cm and over; Sawbwa resplendens (Burmese rummynose) of length 1 cm and over; Yasuhikotakia sidthimunki (Dwarf botia, Skunk loach) of length 1.5 cm and over, to be imported into Australia.

So there may be a slight drop in price for some species... we will all just have to wait and see.
