Bullhead in Season?

Post by silvernes »

I'm a little undereducated on my bullhead just because sushi really doesn't require too much maintenance :) I'm guess they have a normal breeding season as with north american native speacies.

This is my first spring with Sushi - she's HUNGRY ALL THE TIME!! How much can expect her to put on? She ate like 2 smelts in the last 3 days!! :)

Bullheads are hungry all the time. I'd go easy with the feedings if I were you.

Yes, they have a normal breeding season between April and May.

I try not to feed her too much but the food was also intended as supplement for my common plecos (they love the meat! :D) but she at it all :)

Ok April/May thanks that makes alot more sense

Try some cucumber or zuchini slices for supplements for your plecos. They'll make about the same mess of a filter as the smelt, but at least the bullhead won't eat it (I think).

To add to Jools comment, your pleco's will actually be better off with a more vegetarian diet. Yes, they'll love a bit of "meat" in their diet now and again, but shouldn't really have too much of them, they get congestion and die if they get too much meat and not enough fibres.
