good pleco for a 90gal african tank

I'm looking for a good pleco for my 90gal african peacock tank. Its starting to get some algae so i think its time i look into that will work for my setup.

I want a pleco that get big but not too big, no bigger then 9-10". Also preferably one that eats algae or at least cleans the rocks. My ph is 7.8 gh8 kh7.

I'm looking into Ancistrus ranunculus(as posted in another thread) but you guys are saying that it doesn't get as big as the planetcatfish.com profile says it get(8"). So i'm thinking of other options too.

Any suggestions?

We have kept L82 cats in these conditions with no problem. They are one of the nicer spotted plecs

Try an L82 opal dot they are nice cats and we keep them in Malawi setups with no problems.

that is a really beautiful pleco but i don't think i'm going to be able to find/get one. I check at my LFS and this is what they have

L18 Baryancis.sp. - Gold Nugget Pl*co
L81 Baryancis.sp.ORANGE-SEAM
LDA25 Hypostomus sp.- Pitbull Pl*co
Ancistrus ranunculus - Bushmouth Pl*co
Hypostomus sp. - Pitbull Pl*co
regular bushynose pleco
thomasi pleco(rubbernose)

which one would be best suited for my tank? I have ph 7.8 kh7 gh8. I haven't noticed any aggresive behaviour and i have lots of rock work for a pleco to hide in.

Rubbernoses (Chaetostoma) are a fast water fish. You will need plenty of aeration if you opt for them.

I have a friend who has a 48inch tank and he keeps African chiclids of all sort. He has 40 plecos!! The pH is 7.6-7.8 and they are all living very well. Just need to beware of super small plecos! 2 other friends also keep African fish, specially Frontosa with plecos!

Can i know what filtration is he using? The water looks crystal clear even though there's so many fishes.

How about the L-bowgrease Pleco to keep the algae off the front glass? As long as it's not cyano, algae on your rocks can be a good thing. (If it IS cyano, you have a husbandry problem tthat no algae eater can resolve.) In my 125 gal Tanganyika tank, the cichlids and Synos snack on it all the time. Or why not try some Malawi alagae eating cichlids?

how big is that tank? he has way more africans then i do even in my 90gal(i only have 8 and one pleco!)
