I've kept Schilbe mystus a long time, and indeed, they're very nice fish in a roomy tank.

but since then, I've been infected with the Tanganyika-virus.right now, any #1 catfish would be a tie between
Phyllonemus typus and Synodontis granulosus, of wich I have groups, both.

Sorry to hear about the virus, Sid. :(

I have fallen head over heels for Chaestoma. I wish I could learn to keep more than one in a tank.

I adore Corydora Paleatus and Otos.

I'm a simple girl, I'm afraid. :D

I'm very happy with them, because now I'm not just keeping fish, but breeding them as well; and some haven't bred (or documented as being bred) before.

couldn't pull that off with any riverine.

I've kept a pair of Hemiloricaria fallax (?) for four years, and had almost forgotten them. But three weeks ago their tank started leaking, and I put them in a tank of their own. One week ago it looked like this:

Ooooohhhhh! That kind of "bitten-by-the-bug"! April Fool's a week late on me, Sid. I've always been a little slow on the uptake. And English is my first language.

I saw those lovely breeding pics. Quite a thing of beauty!

I don't do april-fools; I really HATE that sh!t!

I meant that by "having a Tanganyikan virus"; I am now deeply addicted to all fish Tanganyikan.
sometimes it's also referred as "bitten by the bug"; when mentioning a nice addiction.

English isn't my native language either

For a community of small fish I reckon right now Corydoras Septentrianalis, fantastic to watch them feeding in sand literally upto the eyeballs in it.

Bigger community, I'd have Pim. Gracilis, lovely graceful fish. Also had an odd one turn up with them, will post a photo in whats this fish.

Sidguppy,
Know exactly what you mean about Syno. Granulosus though fantastic (wild caught :D ) the czech bred half breeds that have been available are naff though  . To much money for my wallet. What are yours?

What does a Chav and a Slinky have in common?

They are both great fun to watch fall down stairs.

If we're talking Panaques then it has to be Panaque Suttonii, but I don't hold out much hope getting one. Anyone that owns one of those is very priveledged.

Theres just to many cats to have a favourite, if money was no object and all that. But it is.

don't insult me!

people who carry catfish-hybrids on them into my home, are crucified near the frontdoor as standard procedure

2 pairs; one very big pair and one younger pair.
they're showing very interesting behaviour lately; we'll see where it goes.
breeding is my aim!

Very new to the wonder of catfish keeping, but I've fallen in love with a couple of Syno Petricolas I bought about 2 months ago. Both are so busy around the tank; a pure pleasure to watch :D

And then I went out and bought a gold nugget and a flat head. But the Syno's win by a mile!

Tetranematichthys quadrifilis, definitely, although I have never had the pleasure of having one - let alone a few.
So this dream will last a little longer, I'm afraid. Meanwhile I'm very happy with other Auchenipterids.

It has to be Corydoras habrosus.

They are so attractive, so engaging, so lively, so busy, so curious, so energetic, so optimistic, so live-and-let-live, who can resist them?
