I bought one of these on saturday but cant find out much information on wot to feed it ect
if anyone else has kept these and has any tips it would be very helpful

at the mo he is at the settling in stage where im not seeing much of him
and im not sure hes eating yet.

also ive seen about 4 different estimates of maximum size for this fish

any help would be appreciated

with not recieving a reply im assuming this fish is fairly hard to get hold of??

if anyone in the south cheshire, england is interested in the whereabouts of the shop please IM me, last time i looked they had 3 left

They're not common, but not extremely rare.

There is nothing outstanding with regards to behavior and diet for catfishes of its size.

I've never seen them in any regular LFS, ever. I DO remember seeing them at an importer and in German LFS.

so they can be quite rare, in the trade.

I'm not familiar with it personally, but the reputation of this species seems to be peaceful, not regarding its' appetite for small fish.
you might think about getting a group? never know what might happen!

checking the books, I'd say they're fairly small for "big Pims"; something between 7-10" or so, wich makes them just the size of the big Pimelodus species.
given the attitude of this fish (a placid hide&seek fish) you should be able to keep a group without having to buy a tankbusters-tank.
A 350-400L tank or so should easily be big enough for 4 or so, given enough bogwood, pipe or other hidy-holes.

any highbuild fish that is at least half their own length should be perfectly safe; think Silverdollars or other peaceful critters.

as for other cats; anything bigger than adult Brochis or so with a peaceful non-territorial (to avoid battles for caves) demeanor should be perfect for company.
