pearl bristlenose plec (Ancistrus hoplogenys)

i have recently bought a peral bristle nose plec from my lfs, and was wondering what my tank setup should be like and what the water paramters should be like! One last question is how do i go about breeding them?

This type of Ancistrus species can be hard depending on the origin, there are several species in the trade from Tocantins, Tapajos and the Rio negro system.
So, where from are yours and did you bought both the male and female at the same occasion?
It's like your location...home :) if we dont know where they origin we dont know what kind of water they prefer.

i dont know exactly where they come from, all i know is that the guy in my lfs ordered me in a proven breeding pair of pearl bristlenose's and he said nothing else about them! so how should my tank be setup for breeding them?

Like the common bristle nose, the water should be softer (120-150 µS/dGH <3,0) and if they origin from Rio negro they prefer quite acid around pH 6.0

Do a search for bristlenose or ancistrus in the forums or go to shanes world and read all the pleco articles, all good imformation.
