cat fish with cloudy eyes?

Hi I have a synodontis bastiani I think. He developed cloudy eyes today. I am wondering if this is something to be concerned about? Also how do you treat it?
He's in a 50g with 4 oscar and a pleco. I know this tank will not hold all of them for long. We are just waiting on a stand to be build for our 120g.
I have cleaned all the filters and was about to clean the gravel and do a water change but one of the oscars is about to lay eggs so I don't want to disrupt that.
Any suggestions would be helpful.

Now it seems the cat fish is active but has it's mouth open at all times. Is this normal? Still has cloudy eyes.
Also the oscar has laid the eggs and one of the other oscar now has the egg shoot protruding. So can't do water change till the males do their jobs.
Any help would be great.

A 50g tank with 4 large oscars the syno and a pleco is too crowded. It is most likely that the syno's eyes have become cloudy and its mouth is always open because of a breakdown in the nitrogen cycle. In the short term large frequent water changes should help the syno. In the long term as you indicate the 120g will be more appropriate.

I know it's too crowded. I'm waiting for the stand to be built on the 120g (I think it's 120 or bigger).
Did the water change and gravel clean. Just waiting to see what happens.
Also just discovered ich today so treating that. Which should help him feel better.
Is the mouth open something I should worry about?

I personally would think that the mouth being open is nothing too serious as pretty much all of my syno's have thier mouths open most of the time. I would be concerned though if this is new behavior for your fish.
