What should I feed the tiger shovelnose instead of live food?

Raw fish flesh (especially that of marine fish), shrimp and other shellfish, and maybe some catfish pellets (but those might not be as readily taken as the former).

Pieces of prawn / shrimp go down well with them. What are you feeding it right now? Weaning them off live food can be difficult.

I would be a bit worried about pieces of raw fish because of the risk of parasites. It's better to steam it over the kettle (or microwave it) first.

live fish becuase he wont eat anything but them.I try to feed it nivor pellets but my oscar eats them.

this sounds slightly wierd but it might work
you could get the biggest dry food for cats that is available and get some juicy fish from a super market and rub the oils off the fish and onto the dry food because it might trick him into eating them and you coud put less and less on untill he eats dry food!!!!!!!!!!!!!

firstly,
you could try white bait,and prawns as suggested,,, i used to feed the ones i looked after on these and i only fed one at a time until the shovel stopped taking an interest in them,
the larger one i looked after i cut peices of cod into slithers, and fed in the same manner,, when using marine fish as feed, there is no danger of parasitics or bacterial contamination as these things die off when not in sea water, and are therefore rendered harmless,,one also should stay clear of oily type fish as these effect the water quality there appears to be more ammonia produced when feeding oily type fish like mackeral. and most if not all dry catfeed also have a high oil content, and this results in more filtration problems, lets remember one important factor,, we are keeping water not fish,, if your water isnt of a good enough quality for your fish to thrive in.. simply .. they won't!

The one I had ate Zebra Dianos, then I wised up and returned it to the LPS. He's still there, poor guy.

I had 2 Tigers that reached 2 feet and they ate nothing but beef heart. Took a while, but I put it on a dowel rod and put it right in front of their face and eventually they take it.
