NEW NEOTROPICAL CATFISHES
The Sociedade Brasileira de Ictiologia (SBI) and the All Catfish Species
Inventory (ACSI) are pleased to announce that the fourth issue of Volume 3
of Neotropical Ichthyology (NI), scheduled to be published in December,
2005, will be dedicated to papers announcing the discovery of new species of
Neotropical catfishes.
We are now soliciting additional manuscripts for inclusion of this issue of
NI. To be considered for publication in this issue, manuscripts must include
the description of at least one new Neotropical catfish species. Manuscripts
may be submitted by anyone conducting research on Neotropical catfish
taxonomy, and manuscripts based on research supported by ACSI, or the
description of new species collected on ACSI-supported field work, are
especially encouraged. Please note that, in keeping with the rules
established for NI, at least one author of each manuscript must be a member
of SBI. An application for membership can be obtained at:
http://www.sbi.bio.br/formEn.rtf.
Manuscripts must be submitted for consideration on or before August 1, 2005;
and manuscripts must receive final acceptance by NI editors no later than
November 1, 2005. These dates are necessary to allow time for review
and final preparation of the issue for the December publication date and are,
therefore, firm deadlines.
Manuscripts accepted for publication in this issue will be published without
page charges to the authors; costs of color illustrations may also be
covered, on a case by case basis. Two hundred (200) reprints of each article
will be sent to the senior author free of charge.
Instructions to authors can be found at: http://www.ufrgs.br/ni/instrucoes.pdf.
Please note that a manuscript that does not follow the prescribed format may
result in the manuscript being rejected or its acceptance delayed beyond the date
that will allow it be included in the catfish issue.
