Lima Shovelnose

So I see that shovelnose have been the hot topic here as of late. But Im planning on getting a new tank soon and would like to get one or two limas. I looked on this website and under the profile of lima, it says that 3 would do well in a 55 gallon. But when it was catfish of the month, it says that 4 or 5 would be great in a 100 gallon. IM hoping to get either a 75 or 90 (same footprint 48"x24", but different heights) and Im wondering what would be realistic for this size tank. So Im asking any of you who have kept limas before your opinion. What would be realistic for that size tank. Thanks

Personally i wouldnt keep them in a tank less than 5x2x2, they are a fairly active species which will make full use of the tanks length. I have mine in a 66x30x24" and wish that i could spare the space for a larger tank for them.

You can keep 2 or 3 in a 55 -- I have, but IMO it's a bit cramped for them. I think a fish that can get to be a foot long rates more space than that. My 2 are in a 6' 125 now, but they tend to stick to an area most of the time, so I don't think a 90 would be to small.
