Sexing and Breeding Blue Panaque (L339)?

Hi everyone,
From the pictures in the Cat-e-log I guess that sexing the Blue Panaque is realatively easy as the adult males get very long interopercular and pectoral odontodes, but from what sort of size do these difference become apparant?

Also, have the Blue Panaques ever been spawned in the home aquarium or do you think that these would be a viable option to attempt?

I would have thought that using hydrocloric acid to lower the pH is a bit excessive, but it seems like this guy made it work...

Does anyone know at what size their sexual diffrences become apparent? Do you think that they would be sexalbe at approx. 7-8cm TL?

Yes they are sexable at that size, if the male not devoled his long odontodes on the cheek and pectoral fin you can compare their head...males have much broader head then females.

My LFS just got 4 males in, all about 9 cm and they are very easily sexable at that size, and are all obviously males.

Not yet but soon I hope

Under last year (spring) they made some attempt to spawn in soft water (100 ÂµS) and low pH (6,0)...they was very active but I got some problem after I put a new pair together with them...disease (I know...keep them in quarantine until you are sure they are healthy) but they look so great
