Question: Bristles on the noze

Post by chris.internet »

Hello!
I'm a newbies in Locaridae, and i would to know in what the bristles are useful on the nose of the ancistrus (male)?
It is like the other species where the male is more coloful, or it has larger fins, etc ...?
Or it's maybe like cat's mustaches, to give their gauge when it enters a tunnel, for example.
I'm looking for this information, but i don't have the solution!!

P.S.: Sorry for my poor english.. I must work hard for it! ;-)

Thank you very much. I had made a research in the forum, but I was not to go up so far in the date.
That gives me finally an answer which is appropriate to me.
Thank you!

Chris.
