lone bristlenose in 20 gallon?

Post by FishFin23 »

You may have read my post in tank talk that was about my algae problem. It was suggested that I get a bristlenose for my 30 gallon cory tank to take care of the algae. Unfortunately, I don't think I will have the room in that tank, but when I move all my corys to the 30 gallon I will have an empty 20 gallon high (24" long, 12" wide). I know that the "high" versions of tanks aren't ideal for catfish, but it is all that will fit in the space I have. I was wondering if a single bristlenose would have enough room/be happy in this type of tank. I'm not looking to get anymore fish or to breed (time-wise I think I'm just about at my limit) so the little guy (or girl) would also be in there by him/herself. Would these conditions be ok? (provided water parameters are good obviously) Thank you for any suggestions/advice!

Gastromyzon punctulatus (Spotted Hillstream Loach, stingray pleco) Gastromyzon ctenocephalus (Spiney-Headed Hillstream Loach, stingray pleco) are very small about 1-2 inches and are very hardy fish. they do an superb job eating algae.

good luck

Why turn your tank into a monastry/convent for just a single fish when it would be adiquate for a pair of bristle nose?? The addition of a suitable cave and you could witness and enjoy the B/N actually raising a family.

When life gives you lemons ask for a bottle of tequila & salt.
The only danger I find in life is to take too many precautions, some people walk in the rain, others just get wet.
