Marbles for Petricola

Post by DanL »

What kind/color marbles work best fro breeding Petricolas?

Can you use clear marbles with the colors on the inside or is it better to use those flatened and rounded clear glass like stones?

if you have a pic of one that you can post that would be great...

Use the old fashion round marbles found in any toy store.

I have read on other breeding posts that dark colored marbles show the eggs up better, because they are nearly transparent. It is doubtful that the fish really care what color, though one person said that they tried changing from green to black marbles, and the fish chose to stay with the green they had previously used for spawning, (given 2 different jars with spawning caves on top). Google for petricola+spawning for more info too.
