40 Long... What to do?

Post by fishthoughts »

So, Im finding that some plecos like strong current or they come from fast moving waters... I am thinking of taking my 40 long and modifying it so there is a pool of water on one end and a powerhead making a "current" going the length of the tank, kind of like a river biotope setup... was wondering if anyone has had any luck wiht this kind of setup or if im thinking way too crazy here :) Im new to plecos and catfish, so Im learning still. Thanks!

A little Math will give you a specification for a particular Powerhead combination that will give similar performance
This was in that article, which was very nice indeed... However, for a 40 long, I want to put 2 powerheads in and 4 sponge intakes, similar to that setup. What Id like to do is find out roughly what math I need to use/learn/do wahtever, to find out how big of a powerhead ill need?[/quote]

okay, i know what it said... that was for 40 imperial gallons, which is about 52 us gallons, which has much different dimensions than a 40 long... just asking. Thanks.

OK so we all know 40 long then? Expanding your local words will help others.

Just a Tip!

Check out the post in Tank talk... River tank.
It will show you how I set up a similar tank and my fish are loving it. Good luck
