Cories and other fish

Post by ol' reefer »

Hi again,

I was wondering if it would be better to keep cories in a community tank or by themselves. Basically, which environment would bring out their natural behavior? Do they need dither fish like tetras? Or would they be better off ina species tank?

Thanks in advance.

Hi!

I keep a wild mix of 11 corys in a tank with no midwater/topdwellers and they roam around the whole tank in all water levels...when i had a bunch of tetras and Angelfish they would only get to the surface to get some air...they even feed off the surface now...
Im not sure whats natural but to me this behaviour is much more enjoyfull than them being stuck on the ground.
cheers

Cool. Now do they breed like crazy by themselves? I keep Tangs, and some of them actually breed more often with the presence of dither fish. Of course, Tangs and cories are completely different fish, but it's all I have for comparison.
