Safe Caves?

Hi can someone please advise me if normal plastic pipes from a plumbing store or hardware store like b&q are safe for aquarium use as caves, if not what would you recommend?

PVC tubes are fine to use as caves,Make sure they are clean and big enough to house the fish intended for before adding to the tank.

Sure they are. Soak them for at least a few days before using them.

I have been using PVC tubes in my river tank for a long time, and my cats and loaches love them. To make it look more natural, buy some clear aquarium silicone. Cover the outside of the tube with it, and roll the tube carefully in some of the same gravel or sand as you have in your tank. Let it dry at least overnight, when you can no longer smell the silicone it's ready to go in the tank. It blends in really well, and looks great!

coconuts make great shelters... and if you buy them from the grocery store you get to eat/drink the inside.
